Kylen Schulte and Crystal Beck Found Shot Dead. “Grand County Sheriff’s Lt. Shan Hackwell said Wednesday, Aug. 18 that the bodies of two Moab women had been found in the South Mesa area of the La Sal Loop Road in Grand County. According to a relative of one of the women, the two were Kylen Schulte and Crystal Beck.” [Times Independent]
Couple Married Four Months Before Death. “The newlyweds married just four months ago and were well-loved by the Moab community. Schulte’s aunt, Bridget Calvert, said that Schulte had worked at Moonflower Community Cooperative the past four years and many who shopped there knew her.” [Fox 13]
Medical Examiner Says Gunshot Wounds Caused Deaths. “Medical examiners determined the cause of death for both women to be gunshot wounds, and the Grand County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the case as a homicide. The sheriff’s office did not state whether anyone has been arrested in connection to the case, but said in a statement that the office “believes there is no current danger to the public in the Grand County area.”” [SL Trib]
Police Suspect Homicide. “Sheriff Steven White said it does not appear to be a murder/suicide and investigators believe someone else killed the women and fled the area. “We do think it was an outside party, there has not been any firearms recovered from that area at this time,” White told 2News.” [KUTV]
Couple Reported “Weirdo” Camping Near Them. ““Kylen and Crystal told close friends that there was a weirdo camping near them that was freaking them out !!! And that they should move campsites,” Schulte’s father, Sean-Paul, wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday. “Now they have been missing for over 4 days and nights!”” [Yahoo]
Schulte Worked As Cashier. “The Moonflower Community Cooperative in Moab said in a Facebook post that Schulte had worked there as a cashier for four years “and was often the first friendly face many of our owners and patrons encountered as they walked in the door.”” [Daily Beast]
