Chris Flores (aka Coach Frogg) Arrested. “Chris Flores, 37, of Bellflower, was nabbed during a traffic stop after a warrant was issued for his arrest after sexual misconduct of a minor. Police started an investigation when allegations of the prominent trainer claimed he reportedly groomed and touched two minors. Allegations against Flores started to circulate when leaked voice recordings surfaced on social media between him and a 14-year-old girl, according to Santa Ana police.” [NY Post]
Flores Reportedly Under Investigation. “A recording of a phone call between a girl and Flores shared with KTLA includes the man pressuring the girl to join him on a date and him asking if she was “sure you got rid of everything.” Flores, who coached high-profile athletes like reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young of Alabama and starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei of Clemson, has been fired from STARS Preparatory Academy and STARS SOCAL, the academy’s owner announced on Instagram. “Never in a million years would I ever imagine releasing a public statement to address sexual misconduct allegations involving Mr. Flores and our innocent little girls,” Jason David said.” [KTLA]
ESPN: Sources Identify Voice On Recording As Flores. “The allegations surfaced on social media this week, stemming from an audio recording of two parties in which an adult male voice prods a young woman to go see a movie with him. When she declines his request to FaceTime, the male voice says, “We talked about this, dude. You gotta stop with the nos.” Multiple sources familiar with Flores told ESPN the voice on the recording was his. Flores’ attorney, Edward Welbourn, told ESPN he could not confirm it was Flores on the recording and denied the allegations were true.” [ESPN]
STARS Academy: “We Have Severed All Ties” With Flores. “The STARS family has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct and we have severed all ties with Mr. Flores. Moreover, we are fully cooperating with the Santa Ana Police Department’s investigation,” the academy added in the caption of David’s video post. “We all still have many questions and at this time, not a lot of answers. One certain thing is this: we are a family; our students, staff, and our partners. Families overcome challenges by healing together. Flores Worked With Players Who Went To NFL. “Flores, known as ‘Coach Frogg,’ formerly worked at STARS Socal, a full-service training facility that offers youth, collegiate and professional sports training as well as rehab in Santa Ana. He was fired this week, according to an email sent to STARS parents. Flores worked with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster as well as Clemson quarterback and St. John Bosco grad DJ Uiagalelei in the past in addition to a number of other high profile athletes.” [SB Live]
