Leatherwood Arrested, Accused Of Lewd Texts. “Police allege that Mountain View High School teacher Shelley Leatherwood also sent a nude photo to the student. The student reported the text messages and a district staff member contacted police Jan. 3, police said. The school district said it placed Leatherwood on administrative leave Jan. 3 when it became aware of the allegations.” [KATU]
Leatherwood Taught Animal Science. “Police said they were contacted Tuesday by an Evergreen Public Schools staff member after the student reported the incident. Evergreen Public Schools confirmed Leatherwood is a current district employee on administrative leave, and she was hired in September 2018. The district declined to share any other information, citing the ongoing investigation. $20,000 Bail Set For Leatherwood After Court Appearance. “Shelley R. Leatherwood, 45, appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of felony communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. Deputy Prosecutor Kelly Ryan also requested the judge find probable cause for an allegation of first-degree attempted sexual misconduct with a minor. He said it’s the statute for when a teacher attempts to engage in sexual intercourse with a student. Judge David Gregerson granted the request and set Leatherwood’s bail at $20,000.
