VICE reported that she spent approximately six years working full time with STARBASE in South Bend, a Department of Defense-supported educational program that provides STEM instruction to fifth-grade students. At STARBASE, Juree taught science, technology, engineering and mathematics to elementary-school students. She told VICE that she earned approximately $55,000 per year and struggled to support herself and her children on that income.

Why Sarah Juree Started An OnlyFans Account

Juree has consistently said that money was the primary reason she initially joined OnlyFans.

She told VICE that rent consumed nearly half of her income and that she also had to pay expenses including health insurance, groceries, car insurance and costs associated with raising her children. She had previously tried other side jobs, including private tutoring and working at a teeth-whitening salon, without earning enough to get out of debt.

Juree said a woman she knew told her she had earned about $10,000 in one month on OnlyFans. That prompted Juree to consider trying the platform during summer break.

She launched her account in early June 2022.

Speaking to Us Weekly in 2025, Juree said her original goal was comparatively modest: she hoped that a couple of successful months could allow her to pay off her credit-card debt.

Sarah Juree Was Fired From STARBASE

Juree’s OnlyFans account quickly became known outside the platform.

Her employer terminated her on June 27, 2022.

VICE obtained and reviewed Juree’s termination letter. According to the letter, STARBASE said she was being dismissed for posting inappropriate photographs in violation of its policies and said the material presented a potential risk to the organization’s reputation and business relationships.

Juree said the termination surprised her because she recalled previously discussing OnlyFans and similar side businesses with a colleague and her boss. According to Juree, her boss had reacted positively to the idea during that conversation. How Sarah Juree’s OnlyFans Photos Became Public

Juree’s case became controversial not simply because she had created an OnlyFans account, but because material intended for subscribers was subsequently circulated outside the platform.

VICE reported that a local blogger contacted STARBASE and published stories about Juree. The articles included edited images obtained from her OnlyFans content as well as information about her teaching job and social-media profiles.

Juree said her images had been distributed without her consent and described the experience as humiliating. Part of the original controversy centered on the nickname “Buttercup.”
