Rachel Goodle Arrested. “A former Oak Creek High School teacher is facing charges after she was accused of sexually assaulting a student in her classroom in December. Rachel Goodle, 22, was charged July 20 with one count of second degree sexual assault of a child under 16 years old and one count of sexual assault of a student by school staff, both felonies. If convicted, Goodle faces up to 46 years in prison, according to online court records. Goodle’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 11.” [Journal Sentinel]
Investigation Triggered By School Resource Officer. “According to a criminal complaint, the Oak Creek Police Department was made aware of a possible inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher at Oak Creek High School. The school resource officer investigated allegations and rumors and learned the teacher, Goodle, was suspended due to her relationship with a student at the same school. An investigation included interviews with students, the victim, and a review of school surveillance footage. The criminal complaint says footage showed a “close relationship” between Goodle and the student, including the pair “spending an inordinate amount of time together, and arriving and sitting together at a school sporting event. The two sat away from the student section.”” [TMJ]
Report: Surveillance Video Showed Goodle With Student. “Specific video shows the defendant and student meeting up and going into her classroom on Friday, Dec. 2. “Once they are inside her classroom, the door closes at 4:49 p.m.” The door remains closed until 5:07 p.m. “when a custodial/cleaning employee opens the door,” the complaint says. When the detective spoke with the student about rumors of an inappropriate relationship between himself and Goodle, the student stated “something did happen,” the complaint says.” [Fox]
Police: Student Admitted That “Something” Happened With Goodle. “Police said that they spoke with the student, who was asked if there was any inappropriate touching between him and Goodle, and the victim told the officer that “something did happen.” Police said rumors had existed for months about an inappropriate relationship between the two. When asked specifically about the December date when he was seen entering Goodle’s classroom, the victim told police that they were in her classroom talking about past relationships.” [Patch]
School Has Previously Been Site Of Assault Allegations. “The boy’s lawyer issued a family statement which read: “This is the second time in less than six years that an Oak Creek High School teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a student inside the walls of the school. “The first charges were brought forward on October 13, 2017, and resulted in a guilty plea on January 26, 2018. “This second charge in less than six years reveals an issue that goes beyond the high school. An investigation directed at the highest levels of the Oak Creek Franklin School District (OCFSD), including the superintendent and school board, must be completed.”” [Daily Star]
