Cortez Arrested, Accused Of Assault. “Pablo Alejandro Cortez, 50, was charged in Ramsey County court on Thursday with one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct while in a prohibited occupational relationship. Cortez was placed on administrative leave by the educational facility after receiving the report, according to court documents. According to the charging document, the 18-year-old student told police Cortez was a science teacher at her school, and they began talking at the end of the school year in May 2022. When school resumed in the fall, Cortez was her biology teacher. The student allegedly told police their relationship turned inappropriate during the first week of December. The pair would allegedly text and Snapchat each other and were “joking around but a little flirty,” the complaint reads.” [Fox]
Report Alleges Cortez Had “Flirty” Communication With Teen. “According to the student’s account of the incident, she became hesitant to engage in the sexual acts with Cortez, but continued because she was scared. Preceding the incident, Cortez had regular contact with the student over the phone, in which they engaged in “flirty” conversations. Cortez has since been charged with criminal sexual conduct, since he was the girl’s teacher at the time of the crime. Cortez was placed on paid administrative leave by St. Paul.
