Who Is Nicholas Moseby? Diablo Vista Middle School Teacher Arrest

Nicholas Moseby is a 41 year old man from Danville in Contra Costa County, California. Moseby was a biology teacher at Diablo Vista Middle School and was also a cheerleading coach. Police have accused Moseby of  sexual misconduct with a minor.

Nicholas Moseby Allegations

Moseby Arrested, Accused Of Misconduct. “Nicholas Moseby, 41, taught biology at the school and is now facing charges of allegedly sending pornographic images to two teenagers. Moseby also worked as a tumbling instructor down the street for Nor*Cal Elite. That company fired him after his arrest and the San Ramon Valley School District has placed him on leave. “We followed all of those rules on how our teachers are credentialed, however that’s not enough,” said Superintendent John Malloy.” [NBC]

Moseby Had Long History As Cheer Coach. “Moseby had a long career working in tumbling and cheerleading, according to Linkedin, starting as a camp instructor for the Universal Cheerleaders Association in 2017. He reportedly served as program director for Valley Cheer and Dance in San Ramon from 2013 to 2018. In 2021, Moseby was issued a certificate of clearance by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. He was issued a Single Subject Teaching Credential on Aug. 4.” [Danville San Ramoan]

Moseby Had Previous Arrests, Including Prostitution Bust. “The prostitution solicitation case stemmed from a November 2015 arrest when Moseby allegedly answered a prostitution ad that undercover Oakland cops set up. He was arrested when he arrived at a hotel on Mandela Parkway after agreeing to a $120 fee, according to authorities. But in Gilbert, Arizona, where Moseby was charged with providing alcohol to a teen in 2009, and in Santa Barbara, where he was charged with being intoxicated in public in 2010, Moseby’s cases were never fully resolved. In September 2010, a Santa Barbara judge issued an arrest warrant for Moseby after he failed to arrive at his arraignment hearing. In December 2009, a Maricopa County judge also issued a warrant for Moseby’s failure to submit to court-ordered fingerprinting. Gilbert police claim that warrant was still active when Moseby was hired as a San Ramon Valley High School teacher last year, though authorities in the Bay Area say neither warrant showed up when Moseby was arrested last week.” [Mercury News]
