Hosinski Fired After Reportedly Slapping Student. “Following a Friday morning class, a teacher, identified Mike Hosinski, confronted a student about what the student was wearing, specifically about a hoodie sweatshirt the student had on in class, according to the letter. A verbal exchange developed in the hallway and Hosinski allegedly slapped the student in the face with an open hand, school officials said.” [ABC57]
Student’s Face Hit Wall After Slap. ““On Friday, February 25, following a morning class, a Jimtown High School teacher confronted a student about the student’s attire, specifically a hoodie sweatshirt the student wore to class,” the release reads. “A verbal exchange ensued in the school hallway and, inexplicably, the teacher struck the student in the face with an open-handed slap. The slap caused the student’s head to strike the wall; the student suffered visible injuries.” [Goshen News]
Hosinski Allowed To Retire, Collect Pension. “Hosinski will be allowed to retire, effective last Friday, and collect his pension. The decision was applauded by dozens of parents who defended the longtime social studies teacher during a school board meeting at Jimtown High in Elkhart.” [South Bend Tribune]
Hosinski Charged With Battery. “A northern Indiana teacher accused of grabbing a student and slapping him across the face has been charged with battery causing moderate injury. A judge on Friday found there was probable cause for the charge against former Jimtown High School teacher Michael Hosinski, 61, of Osceola. The offense is a felony that could carry a sentence of six months to 2 1/2 years in prison.” [AP]
