
Matthew Barth is a 44 year old man from Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland. Barth was a teacher at Mount Hebron High School, where he began teaching in 2003. Police have accused Barth of abusing a student over a four month long period. Police allege that Barth’s student was a 15 year old girl.

Barth Arrested. “Police believe Barth sexually abused a 15-year-old female student over a period of four months. The Ellicott City teacher was arrested Thursday in North Carolina, he is currently awaiting extradition to Maryland. Barth has been a teacher at Mount Hebron High School since 2003. Officers began investigating the high school teacher after a friend of the victim spoke of the alleged abuse. Investigators believe Barth sexually abused the girl inside the school on multiple occasions.” [MORE]
Police Allege Sexual Contact Between Barth And Student At School. “After investigating the friend’s report, police said the acts happened multiple times inside the school building “over a period of approximately four months.” Police said a review of “electronic records” also indicates sexual contact between Barth and the teen.” [MORE]
Barth Banned From School Building. “Barth was placed on administrative leave and barred from accessing school buildings once the Howard County Public School System was informed of the accusation on Wednesday, school system spokesperson Brian Bassett said in an email. In an email to the school community Thursday afternoon, Superintendent Michael Martirano said Barth taught at Mount Hebron since 2003, and that it was his only school of employment.
