
Lee Ann Daigle (formerly Lee Ann Guerrette) is a 58 year old woman from Lowell, Massachusetts. Police have accused Daigle of the 1985 murder of a newborn child found in a gravel pit in Frenchville, Maine.

Daigle Arrested, Charged With 1985 Cold Case Murder Of Baby Jane Doe. “Lee Ann Daigle, 58, was arrested Monday outside her home in Lowell after a grand jury indicted her on one count of murder, Maine State Police said in a news release. Authorities say Daigle gave birth in sub-zero temperatures at the gravel pit in Frenchville, near the Canadian border, and left the baby there, the release said. A dog found the newborn’s body on Dec. 7, 1985, and carried it 700 feet to its owner’s home, authorities said. Investigators tracked the dog’s path back to the pit and found where the baby had been born and abandoned.” [NBC]

Police: Alleged Murderer Found Via DNA, Genetic Genealogy. “Over the years through advancements in technology to include DNA and genetic genealogy the Maine State Police were able to identify 58-year-old Lee Ann Daigle, formerly Lee Ann Guerette, of Lowell, Massachusetts as Baby Jane Doe’s mother. In collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office, Daigle was indicted by an Aroostook County Grand Jury on one count of murder and an arrest warrant was issued.
