Joseph M. Krol is a 36 year old man from Rochester, Illinois who was a pastor at First Baptist Church. Krol has been accused by police of sexually grooming a 15 year old girl.

Krol Accused Of Grooming Girl, Arrested. “Krol allegedly sent sexual messages and images to a 15-year-old girl in Oreana, which is 10 miles northeast of Decatur. Krol wanted the 15-year-old to send him nude photos of herself, according to a sworn affidavit from Macon County sheriff’s deputy, Sergeant Roger Pope.” [Journal-Register]
Police: Krol Tried To Get Girl To Sneak Out Of Home To See Him. Police say Krol engaged in a game of “true confessions” and talked to the girl about his sexual past. They say he tried to get her to sneak out of her house while everyone at home was asleep. He also reportedly offered her gifts.
Police: Krol Tried To Entice Girl For Months. Police say Krol spoke to the girl for three to four months while trying to entice her.
Police: Girl Confessed To Mother, Showed Her Texts. Police say the alleged victim revealed Krol’s texts to her and showed her pictures of their messages to each other.
Police Posed As Girl, Krol Sent Them Video. Police say they posed as the girl on Snapchat and then thinking it was the alleged victim, Krol sent a video of the outline of his penis and discussed her purported interest in older men and her sexual fantasies related to that.
Police: Krol Tried To Reset Phone When They Went To His House. Police say that when they went to his home to confront him, Krol grabbed his phone and began to manipulate the buttons on the device. The authorities said he tried to do a factory reset on the phone to try and hide evidence of his communications.
Girl Was Member Of Galilee Baptist Church. Police say the alleged victim and her family were members of Galilee Baptist Church in Macon County. Krol previously served at the same church, police said.
First Baptist Church: “Grieved” To Her Krol Allegations, Suspended Him. “Because we take this seriously, we have immediately suspended Dr. Krol from all responsibilities. We have great concern and are in prayer for all affected by the situation and will cooperate with any law enforcement investigation.” [First Baptist Church]
