Esquivel Arrested, Accused Of Maryland Mass Shooting. “Joe Louis Esquivel, 23, of Hedgesville, WV, was hit with murder, attempted murder, assault and weapons charges in connection with the Smithsburg massacre, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. He was behind bars with no bond Friday night, officials said. Esquivel went to his car to get a gun after working a full shift at Columbia Machine, Inc. Thursday. He returned to the concrete product factory’s break room and allegedly opened fire on fellow workers around 2:30 p.m., according to authorities.” [NY Post]
Police: Guns Retrieved From Esquivel House. “According to police, Esquivel was an employee at Columbia Machine and is a resident of Hedgesville, West Virginia. During a search of his home, investigators retrieved more firearms, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect’s mother told NBC Washington in an interview that she hasn’t spoken to her son since the shooting and has no idea what his motives were. She added that she didn’t know of any issues that he had work.” [247 News]
Five Employees Murdered At Factory. “The deceased victims, all employees, have been identified as Mark Alan Frey, Charles Edward Minnick Jr, and Joshua Robert Wallace. Wallace’s girlfriend made a heartbreaking post on Facebook following the news of his death.” [The Sun]
