Gary C. Ferrell II is a 26-year-old man from Clinton County, Indiana. Police have named him as a suspect in a shooting at an NHK factory in Frankfort, Indiana, that killed two women.
Gary C. Ferrell II Named As NHK Factory Shooting Suspect. “The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office has released the mugshot of Gary C. Ferrell II, who is the primary suspect in the NHK shootings on Aug., 18. The victims in the shooting have been identified as Promise Mays, 21, and Pamela Sledd, 62, both from the Rossville area. Prosecutors To Seek Death Penalty For Ferrell. “In Indiana, the death penalty requires that the murder be done while in the commission of a specific list of aggravators. In this case, Clinton County prosecutors say that Ferrell’s alleged confinement of Mays is the aggravator that allows them to file the death penalty.” [Journal]
Police: Ferrell, Victims, All Worked At NHK Factory. “Workers who called 911 identified Ferrell as the gunman, Kelly said. Mays and Sled just arrived for their shifts when they were shot, Kelly said, and Ferrell worked a different shift and was not working.” [Journal and Courier]
Police: Ferrell Crashed Car After High-Speed Chase With Cops. “Clinton County Sheriff Rich Kelly said in a news conference Wednesday night Ferrell reached speeds of 90-100 mph and crashed in a construction zone in Frankfort. He was taken into custody without incident following the crash.” [WISH]
Sheriff “Deeply Angered” By Shooting. From Sheriff Rich Kelly: “I am deeply angered and appalled by the violent crime that took place in our community this afternoon. This behavior will simply not be tolerated. We are working feverishly with the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office to gather evidence and statements so that we may move forward with charges in the next couple of days.
