Eric Givens is a 29 year old man from Miami, Florida. He worked as a teacher at Cathedral of St. Mary’s School and at Scheck Hillel Community School. Police have accused Givens of molesting a student of the school.

Eric Givens Arrested. “Eric Bernard Givens, 29, was arrested Friday on seven counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child, seven counts of battery, and one count of offenses against students by authority figures, arrest reports said. According to one report, a student earlier this month told a school counselor she was molested by her teacher, Givens, when she was in 5th grade at Cathedral of St. Mary’s School in Miami in 2018.” [MORE]

Givens Fired From Scheck Hillel Community School. “Rabbi Ari Leubitz, the Head of School at Scheck Hillel, confirmed to Local 10 News that Givens was a first-year teacher who was terminated following his arrest, and that the cases have no connection to the school. “To my knowledge, the allegations that led to this arrest were not made public prior to the teacher’s employment here,” Lebutz said in a statement to Local 10, which added that Givens cleared a Florida Department of Law Enforcement background check.” [MORE]

Alleged Victim Told Police Givens Texted Her. “The girl told investigators she received texts from Givens that stated “Of wow, I wanna see you bad” and “Always wanted to date you,” according to the report. He’s also accused of sending her a picture of him only wearing boxer shorts. Police brought Givens in for questioning on May 5th. Givens first told investigators that he thought he was texting the girl’s mother, according to the report. Alleged Victim Claims Givens Assaulted Her. “On May 2, the girl stated that she was in her second month of the fifth grade when Givens raped her after the classroom emptied or whenever her mother was late to pick her up. She stated that he pulled her hair in class and grabbed her wrists to the point of bruising. He would continue his inappropriate actions at least seven more times. In an interview with police, he denied the rape allegations against him and stated he did not know the victim. He continued to provide inconsistent statements and said he only taught the fourth grade at the school but then corrected himself stating he did teach the fifth grade.” [MORE]

Second Alleged Victim Is 10 Year Old Girl. “The second alleged victim, a 10-year-old girl, is Givens’ former 3rd grade student at Gibson Charter School in Miami. She said she messaged Givens on March 3 about students not passing to 3rd grade, then said she started receiving messages from Givens that said “I wanna see you again,” “Always wanted to date you,” and “Oh wow I wanna see you bad,” the report said.
