Bertha Cerna is a 40 year old woman from Toppenish, Washington. Cerna was an English teacher at Toppenish High School where her husband Johnny Cerna Jr. served as Vice Principal. Cerna has been accused by police of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Warrant Issued For Cerna. “Bertha Cerna, former secondary English Teacher, and Johnny Cerna Jr., former Vice Principal at Toppenish High School’s wife now has a warrant out for her arrest as wanted suspect for sexual misconduct with a minor. As we previously covered, Toppenish High School Vice Principal and an English teacher, John Cerna and Bertha Cerna have been accused of selling drugs and alcohol to students, as well as sexual encounters.” [NBC]
Report Claims Cerna Circulated Nude Photos To Students. “According to the investigation report, at one point while Johnny was in Mexico he stated he wanted to have sex with the student, having the student not respond. Once word got out that both Johnny and Bertha Cerna were placed on paid administrative leave for accusations made against them, many community members, former and present students wrote to the school district sharing their concerns for the school district and the well-being of the students. There had also been sexual images of Bertha Cerna completely nude taken on a bed and in a home going around on the internet with many people claiming that she was sending these pornographic images to students.” [NBC]
Police: Allegations That Cerna Partied With Students With Alcohol. ““Some of the allegations involve the Cerna’s hosting parties that included or encouraged students from the Toppenish School District to attend,” said Casey Schilperoort, Public Information Officer for Yakima Sheriffs Department. “At these parties, we heard that there was alcohol being furnished to the minors as well as drugs and sometimes sexual favors.”” [Fox 41]
Report: Cerna Under Investigation By Sheriffs Since 2021. “Through much of 2021 and into early 2022 the sheriff’s office had investigated Bertha Cerna and her husband John Cerna on accusations of various kinds of misconduct with students. In January KIMA confirmed the sheriff’s office had delivered its investigation to the prosecutor recommending charges. Eventually the prosecutors office send the investigation back saying it needed more evidence before filing formal charges.” [KIMA]
Documents Claim Cerna Gave Student Cocaine, Exposed Self On Facetime. “The probable cause statement includes a claim by the former Toppenish High School student that he was offered what he believed to be cocaine during their relations. He accused her of trying to meet up frequently after their first sexual encounter, to which he declined until finally, he agreed to visit their home. He claimed that upon arrival, she “pulled him out of his car and began taking his clothes off” shortly before his 18th birthday. They allegedly had sex for a second time before he turned 18. The probable cause statement concludes that their interactions continued after he became legal. During one FaceTime call, she allegedly exposed her breasts. Authorities say he screenshotted the interaction and showed it to police, which they considered evidence since it “lends credibility to the fact that there was a sexual relationship between them in the past…”” [Yaktrinnews]
