Benjamen Scott Burlew is a 41 year old man from Miami, Oklahoma. He has been accused by the Department of Justice of being part of the January 6 Capitol riot and assaulting a member of the news media.
Burlew Arrested, Accused Of Assault On AP Photographer. “Benjamen Scott Burlew, 41, of Miami, Oklahoma, is charged with federal offenses that include assault in special territorial jurisdiction and acts of physical violence on restricted grounds. Burlew made his initial court appearance in the Northern District of Oklahoma on Aug. 20.” [DOJ]
Report: Burlew Caught On Video. “Video captured at the scene showed that Burlew “aggressively confronted” a photographer and then, with other individuals, “grabbed the photographer and pushed him, then shoved and dragged him parallel to the stairs,” according to his indictment.” [The Hill]
Burlew Arrested By Tulsa County Sheriffs. “Tulsa County sheriff’s deputies arrested Benjamen Scott Burlew on two misdemeanor charges: assault within special maritime and territorial jurisdiction and committing an act of physical violence on U.S. Capitol grounds.” [Tulsa World]
DOJ Claims Burlew Shoved And Dragged Reporter. “While attempting to avoid confrontation with these unknown assailants, the photographer relocated his position elsewhere on the stairs, at which point the photographer was aggressively confronted by Burlew. As alleged, after that confrontation, Burlew, together with other assailants including Alan William Byerly, grabbed the photographer and pushed him, then shoved and dragged him parallel to the stairs.” [DOJ]
