South Elementary School is an elementary school located in Plainview, Texas. The school has been the source of controversy after parents alleged that a 6 year old girl was forced to perform a sexual act, and that video of the alleged act was recorded at the school.

Misconduct Allegation Made. “Heather Gonzales said her 6-year-old cousin appeared to not be feeling well and they asked her about what happened. “She was like, ‘My stomach hurts. I just want to lay down,’” Gonzales said. “You could tell something was wrong with her.” The child then reportedly told her cousin that a boy had exposed himself to her in the lunch line at school. The girl also said that a student pulled her under a desk and forced her to perform a sex act during class more than a week before.” [MORE]
School: Recording Of Alleged Assault Was Made On School Device. “Plainview ISD Superintendent H.T. Sanchez commented on the district’s response. He said when the content was found on a school device the day after the incident happened, a report was made and CPS was contacted. A state investigator then started working with local law enforcement and arrived in Plainview the next week.” [MORE]
Teacher Placed On Leave After Incident. “Child Protective Services (CPS) was notified and an investigation was started. The findings from the investigation were shared with the school principal, campus authorities, the assistant superintendent and superintendent. PISD also said the parents/guardians were notified of the situation. The statement said, “The teacher was also placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.”” [MORE]
Parents Allege Principal Did Not Respond. “After not hearing from the district, parents went to South Elementary on April 27 seeking answers from the principal of the campus, Jennifer Hughey. The parents were allegedly provided with unclear answers. That’s why they showed up at the administration office on Monday. About nine parents were present holding signs at the administration office around 10:15 a.m. A few of the signs read “Be their voice,” “We want our kids to be safe,” and “Protecting children is not just the parents’ duty.”” [MORE]
School Canceled After Threats. “Classes at South Elementary School are canceled on Monday amid threats to teachers and staff, the Plainview Herald reports. The cancelation comes as Plainview Independent School District is under fire for allegedly failing to properly communicate with parents after first graders reportedly performed sex acts on one another and recorded it on a school iPad while a teacher was in the room, the Avalanche-Journal reported Monday.” [MORE]
