Marka Lee Bodine, a teacher in Texas’ Tomball Independent School District (ISD) has been accused of abusing a student and charged with assault.

Bodine Sentenced To 60 Days In Jail. “A former Texas teacher was sentenced this week to 60 days in jail and 10 years of deferred adjudication probation for sexually abusing an underage student, enraging the local community who felt the judge was too lenient. Marka Bodine, 32, a former Tomball ISD teacher, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of a child under 14. She must register as a sex offender following her jail sentence.” [Fox]
Bodine Arrested, Charged. “On Saturday, April 17, arrested former TISD employee, Marka Bodine, for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. Bodine was booked into the Harris County Jail. ” [Tomball Police Department]
Bodine Taught 5th and 6th Graders. “31-year-old Marka Lee Bodine was a teacher at Tomball Intermediate, a school for 5th and 6th graders. She was arrested Saturday, charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, under the age of 14.” [KWHI]
Police: Abuse Happened For Years, Grooming Alleged. “”Most of the investigation indicates it’s been about two and a half to three years. Both social media, text, and other forms of evidence. And it does appear that this is one of those cases where grooming of the child was involved, in other words, getting the person to be feel trusted initially. Bodine Claimed Student Was Harassing Her. “According to the affidavit, Bodine herself sparked the investigation when she told the principal at Tomball Intermediate School that she was being harassed by a former student who was threatening to harm himself and somehow gained access to private photos of her. She reportedly claimed that the student was manipulating those images.” [KTEM]
School District Put Bodine On Leave. “The Tomball school district opened its own investigation after the police started looking into Bodine and the allegation of sexual abuse. According to a prepared statement shared with KPRC-TV, the school placed Bodine on administrative leave.” [Heavy]
Student: Bodine Moved Into Apartment Complex After Divorce. “According to the affidavit, the former student said his relationship with Bodine continued for three years and that Bodine moved into his apartment complex after her divorce. The former student also told investigators that he and Bodine had sex in her classroom and her car several times, according to the affidavit.” [KPRC]
Video Game Allegedly Used To Communicate Between Bodine, Student. “When they spoke to the former student, the boy alleged that Bodine had befriended him via an online video game. The two started texting, and soon after, began exchanging explicit images and videos, the affidavit alleges.” [People]
