Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced plans to put together a Select Committee to investigate the January 6 attack after Republicans opposed creating a bipartisan commission. There are worries that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy could select Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to be a part of the committee to undermine it.

Propublica reported that senior Trump aides had information ahead of the attack that it would happen, and instead of acting against it, Trump continued to inflame the situation by promoting lies about the election results.
Officer Michael Fanone
Officer Michael Fanone from the Capitol Police, said he was disappointed after finally getting a meeting with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about the attack. Fanone said he asked McCarthy to disavow lies about the attack that are being repeated by Republicans like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Donald Trump.

Derrick Van Orden, a failed 2020 Republican congressional candidate, used donations given to his election campaign to pay for trips for Trump supporters to get to Washington, D.C. on January 6.
