Woods And Clark Found Dead After Going Missing. “The family members have confirmed that the bodies found by the officials on Sunday, September 18 are of two high school students identified as Lyric Woods, 14, and Devin Clark, 18. The Orange County Sheriff’s department has also said it believed those were the victims but can’t confirm anything until the medical examiners release a positive report. The medical examiner’s office has not yet confirmed the identities but has confirmed they were a white female and a black male. 17 Year Old Male Arrested For Woods And Clark Murders. “A 17-year-old boy is wanted for the murder of two North Carolina teens found shot to death Sunday afternoon on an ATV trail. Teens Were From Different Schools, Reported Missing Over Weekend. “Woods, a ninth-grade student at Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough, was reported missing by her family to the Sheriff’s Office on Saturday. Clark, a senior at Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane, was reported missing by his family to the Mebane Police Department on Sunday.” [Observer]
Both Bodies Had Gunshot Wounds. “Men riding four-wheelers discovered the bodies, a white female and a black male, just before 3 pm yesterday. Both appear to be less than 20 years old. The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm the identity of the decedents and to establish an official cause of death. Both victims had, what appeared to be, gunshot wounds. Sheriff Blackwood issued the following statement this morning: “As a parent, I cannot imagine how excruciating the wait for confirmation of the victims’ identity is. However, the process is important and critical to lead us to the person or persons responsible for this horrific crime. I’m asking for your patience as we, along with other investigative agencies, do the work necessary to seek justice for the victims and their families.”” [Sheriff’s Dept]
Witness Claims He Heard Gun Shots Near Where Bodies Were Found. “A person who lives near where the bodies were found told ABC11 he heard something unusual in the area a few days ago. “I heard close to 10 shots going off like an automatic gun and paused for a little bit, and five more shots went off,” David White said. “I thought, ‘who’s shooting this late at night?'”” [ABC 11]
Mother Claims Third Person Involved In Murders. “Clark’s mother said she believes a third person was involved in the teens’ disappearance is responsible for their deaths. “Who is strong enough to carry two bodies and dump them?” said Tiffany Concepcion. “We want answers.” The Orange County Sheriff’s Office called the teens’ deaths a homicide but has offered little information about who might be responsible. The identities of the two teens and their official cause of death is still being determined by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office.” [WRAL]
