Voting by mail will be a major issue in the 2020 election. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the rise of COVID-19 infections, many Americans are hoping to vote by mail.
“We don’t want anybody to do mail-in ballots” – Donald Trump, 5/21/20 (Trump votes by mail)

Democrats support voting by mail and have supported efforts to expand the ability to do so. Republicans at both the state and federal levels have been working to attack vote by mail because they believe if more people vote, Republicans will lose elections.
Vote By Mail Works, Is Secure And Accurate
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) admitted there were no problems with voting by mail. “In my state, I’ll bet 90% of us vote by mail. It works very very well and it’s a very Republican state,” he told ABC.
Many have called out Donald Trump for attacking vote by mail since that is how he votes. While Trump lives in the White House in Washington, his official residence is Palm Beach, Florida, where his Mar-a-Lago resort is. Trump votes by mail in Florida.
“Trump himself votes by mail but is spreading lies and making threats to prevent his fellow Americans from pursuing the same option during an epidemic,” noted Hillary Clinton.
Even Fox News admitted Trump’s attack on voting by mail is flawed. “There really is no record of massive fraud, or even serious fraud from mail-in voting … When people get their ballots and mail them in themselves, no history of fraud at all,” said Fox News host Chris Wallace.
NBA legend Bill Russell said, “There is a good reason for #VoteByMail not sure if you have heard of #coronavirus #COVIDー19 or better known as a #pandemic bit I don’t want to risk my life to #vote.”
Trump complained about absentee ballots, noting, “Obviously there’s going to be fraud. We’re not babies.”
California Vote by Mail
California governor Gavin Newsom issued a directive ordering election officials to mail a ballot to every registered voter in the state. Newsom was the first governor to make such a move after COVID-19 virus killed thousands of people. Former Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who is running for a San Diego seat, is suing to prevent Newsom’s action.
Issa’s lawsuit is working in concert with the extremist conservative legal group Judicial Watch.
Alex Padilla, California’s Secretary of State, said the lawsuit is “un-American, immoral, and a threat to the health of every Californian.”
