Cataloguing scandals and controversies involving Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO).
State Tax Liens
Boebert had state tax liens of nearly $20,000 against her, dating back to 2018. The liens came about due to unpaid unemployment insurance liabilities related to her business, Shooters Grill. After the liens were reported on by local media, Boebert paid off the liability.
Campaign Mileage Expenses
Boebert paid herself $22,000 out of her 2020 campaign funds. Her campaign claimed that the repayments were in exchange for mileage she traveled. An analysis found that Boebert would have had to drive 38,712 miles during the campaign to justify the mileage payments. But there were several months where Boebert did not have any campaign events where she would have had to travel – March, April, or July of 2020.
