The “Get Your Knee Off Our Necks” march on Washington, D.C. is scheduled for August 28, 2020 at the Lincoln Memorial.
The march was organized by National Action Network and the NAACP. It will call for police accountability, criminal justice reform and racial equality and will mobilize voters for the November 2020 election.
National Action Network’s Al Sharpton announced the march after the murder of George Floyd.
From the official march website: “Join the thousands – virtually-who will March on Washington to set forth a bold new Black agenda restore and recommit to the dream. The Commitment March, convened by Rev. Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III, will gather at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., for an inclusive day of action.”
Scheduled speakers include Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Stacey Abrams, Martin Luther King III, Al Sharpton, attorney Benjamin Crump, Sen. Cory Booker, Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, and the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Eric Garner.
