After a campaign in which Donald Trump ran on a platform of locking up his Democratic opponent in prison, a top member of his inner circle has issued a threat to a sitting U.S. Senator.
Speaking to the pro-Trump Fox News Sunday, Trump campaign spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway, who is slated for a top position in the Trump administration, made the menacing remark.
Responding to Senator Harry Reid’s (D-NV) factual statements about the support from the KKK and other anti-minority groups that Trump has received, Conway said, “He should be very careful about characterizing somebody in a legal sense. He thinks — he thinks he’s just being some kind of political pundit there, but I would say be very careful about the way you characterize it.”
It was unclear what the implied threat against Reid, who is retiring at the end of the current session, would entail. When asked if Trump would sue Reid, Conway denied that would happen, but did not elaborate.
