Donald Trump has not been sworn in yet, and has already been caught lying about keeping factory jobs in America.
On Thursday night, Trump tweeted: “Just got a call from my friend Bill Ford, Chairman of Ford, who advised me that he will be keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky – no Mexico.”
The tweet left the impression that Trump had somehow kept production in the United States instead of a move to Mexico.
But it was a lie.
Jim Tankersley, a reporter for the Washington Post, pointed out that there are no plans to move production from Ford’s Lincoln plant in Kentucky to Mexico.
And Ford has long since planned to produce its new SuperDuty pickup at a plant in Kentucky.
The episode shows the continued problems Trump has with telling the truth, and his desire to receive credit for keeping manufacturing jobs within the United States, an effort in which it is very unlikely he will have much success.
