Taylor Swift: The 1989 World Tour Live is a concert movie behind the scenes of Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour that took place over 2015. The movie was released on Apple Music to subscribers.
The two-hour video was filmed in November 2015 ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Australia
Swift reveals that “Blank Space” is her favorite song from the 1989 album and they tried to replicate the music video for her stage show in as much detail as humanly possible.
The tour featured surprise guests at many of the concert stops. But Swift reveals it wasn’t that hard to get guests to appear with her on stage. In the film Swift says, “Getting people to say yes to come out onstage was a lot easier than I thought. It really showed me how many artists out there love what they do so much that they are willing to get up and play because it’s fun.”
But she didn’t think megastar Justin Timberlake would appear with her. “Of course I invited him out, but I did not expect him to say yes.” In fact Timberlake appeared with Swift in Los Angeles, and the two sang a duet of his song “Mirrors.”
For the show that took place in June 2015 in London, Swift was joined onstage by Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. Swift used nail polish bottles on stage to plot out how the four of them would move around on the catwalk stage together.
Two guest spots were very spontaneous, and not planned out at all. Mick Jagger appeared after the dad of a friend of Swift’s saw the Rolling Stones legend out for dinner in Nashville, and that started the ball rolling for his appearance. John Legend was simply attending the Taylor Swift concert as an audience member, and 40 minutes before showtime Swift asked him to appear on stage with her.
The 1989 tour confirmed once again why Swift has superstar status, and the film collaboration with Apple Music is sure to please her diehard fans around the world.
