About Molly O’Malia
Molly O’Malia, Tyga Scandal
Gossip site OK Magazine wrote an article in December 2015 alleging that there was a relationship between O’Malia and rapper Tyga. The article claimed, “He’s definitely trying to hook up with her, and she’s flattered,” adding, “She thinks it’s exciting … He keeps telling her how beautiful she is and how he can’t wait to hang out with her. It’s a lot of attention for a girl her age, and she’s clearly enjoying it.”
On January 4, O’Malia held a news conference with lawyer Gloria Allred. In the press conference O’Malia said that Tyga sent her a direct message via Instagram and requested a FaceTime video chat with her. O’Malia cried as she told her story.
“He direct messaged me on Instagram. I knew who he was but I was surprised that he was contacting me.
“I thought that it could possibly be about my music, but he did not mention that in his initial communication with me. I thought that was strange, but I was thinking he would bring that up in his next message to me. However, he didn’t mention it in the next message.”
“I began to feel uncomfortable when he asked me to FaceTime with him,” she continued. “He asked me to FaceTime three times, but I did not do it (and) because of my discomfort with why he wanted to communicate with me, I quickly stopped responding to him.”
O’Malia also wants an apology from OK for using her photo. “Even though (they) pixelated my face and did not use my name, a lot of people could tell it was me.”
Allred told the assembled media that the mother of O’Malia, Anne Lowry O’Malia, felt it was “completely inappropriate for an adult male to communicate with her 14-year-old daughter, ask for her phone number and ask when she is coming to L.A.”
Lowry O’Malia released a statement criticizing the editors at OK! Magazine for insinuating “there was an inappropriate sexually suggestive relationship going on between Tyga and Molly.”
Tyga is dating Kylie Jenner, who is 18.
Tyga’s manager Anthony Martini told TMZ that Tyga reached out to O’Malia because he was interested in her as a singer because of her online following and thought about signing her to his record label, Last Kings Records.
TMZ reports that O’Malia claimed to be 17 in text messages she sent to Tyga.
Molly O’Malia Family
According to reporting, O’Malia faced verbal abuse from her father, as did her sister Christina O’Malia, and her mother, Anne O’Malia. The abuse was apparently a catalyst for her parent’s divorce, but even after it happened O’Malia wrote online that “to this day he cannot stop.”
On November 4th, 2011, Molly O’Malia’s sister Christina was hit by a Honda Civic while crossing a street. She suffered a severe closed brain injury, with a subdural hematoma. Molly O’Malia and her mother have been working as caregivers for Christina, described as a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor.
