Newly elected congressman Charlie Crist (D-FL) says he will collaborate with Donald Trump’s anti-minority government.
Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union, Crist said he would be open to Trump’s proposal to impose tariffs on American businesses.
Crist said, “It’s all about jobs and making sure that we have American jobs protected, we protect the American worker, give them the opportunity to be able to provide for their families, get a college education.”
Crist has a history of political opportunism. From 2007 to 2011 he was the governor of Florida as a member of the Republican Party. In 2010 he became an independent when running against Marco Rubio in a senate race he lost. Crist then became a Democrat and lost against Rick Scott in the 2014 Florida gubernatorial election.
In 2016 he ran for the congressional seat in Florida’s 13th congressional district and defeated Rep. David Jolly 52% to 48%.
