The 2018 midterm congressional elections will determine control of the U.S. House and Senate. Both bodies are currently being controlled by the Republican Party under Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). Election day is on November 6, 2018.
Republican Retirements Before 2018 Midterms
Several Republicans have announced that they will be retiring ahead of the midterm, leaving their seats open and possibly flipped to the Democratic Party. Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA), considered a moderate Republican, is retiring and blames Republicans for moving to the hard right.
