Actress Zendaya Coleman appears in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Zendaya is best known for her starring role in the Disney Channel series K.C. Undercover. She has also appeared as a contestant on ABC’s reality competition show Dancing With The Stars.
Who Is Zendaya’s Character In Spider-Man: Homecoming?
Rumors are rampant that Zendaya is playing Mary Jane Watson, who in the comic books is Spider-Man’s girlfriend and eventual wife. In Homecoming, Zendaya’s character is listed as “Michelle” and in trailers for the movie she is billed as one of Peter Parker’s friends.
In an interview with Good Morning America, David Muir asked Zendaya, “Lots of questions about whether or not you’re really the famous Mary Jane Watson.”
She told him, “It’s always the question of my life right now. I keep trying to tell everybody my name is Michelle in the movie. That is what my name is. I am not lying to you. I swear.”
Zendaya’s Spider-Man Audition Details
Zendaya said the audition process was “actually really cool.” Describing the process: ” It was an initial audition tape, and then I had a chemistry read with Tom. It went really cool, and our director [Jon Watts] is like so chill and so relaxed that it took some of the pressure off.”
Zendaya explained, ” It was my first big movie and I wanted it so bad. I was definitely nervous. People think I don’t get nervous but I was extremely nervous. It was nice to have Tom, who was super nice and super chill, as well as the director.”
