Donald Trump’s Florida resort (and sometimes residence) Mar-a-Lago has been caught selling tickets to their New Year’s Even party, where Trump will be in attendance with his wife Melania and their son, Barron.
Hundreds of tickets at $500 a head have been sold for the event, where buyers will be able to rub shoulders with the incoming president.
Incoming White House Director of Strategic Communications Hope Hicks denied that the event is selling access to Trump: “This is an annual celebratory event at the private club, like others that have continued to occur since the election. Additionally, the president cannot and does not have a conflict.”
Like most of the Trump team’s denials about corruption and conflict of interest, Hick’s denial is based only in words and is not a legal opinion or position from a disinterested third party.
Trump has already been caught on multiple occasions offering up access to the highest bidder, a practice many worry will continue once he is firmly in the White House.
