GOP Lawmaker Calls Porn An Epidemic, Wants Gov’t Action

A Republican lawmaker in Virginia calls pornography an epidemic and wants the government to act to curb it immediately.

Delegate Robert Marshall from Prince William proposed a resolution calling for “the need for education, prevention, research, and policy change at the community and societal level in order to address the pornography epidemic that is harming the people of the Commonwealth and the nation.”

Speaking to the Washington Post, Marshall compared pornography to the connection between smoking and lung cancer: “Before smoking was identified as a problem, at least the recognition that it led to certain pathologies was a starting point to put restrictions on it.”
