Kellyanne Conway, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign manager and top media surrogate, has been given a taxpayer-funded job to spread propaganda in favor of Trump. On Thursday morning Trump announced that Conway would serve as “counselor to the president.” In a statement, Trump said Conway is “a tireless and tenacious advocate of my agenda and has amazing insights on how to effectively communicate our message.”
According to reporting during the campaign, Conway served more as a babysitter to Trump than as a traditional campaign manager. She was reportedly key to getting the notoriously unfocused Trump to zero in on his campaign priorities for extended stretches of time.
Conway, who rose to political prominence as a television pundit arguing for President Bill Clinton to be impeached, has also been notable for repeatedly lying in service of Trump. More than anyone else on his team, Conway has made outlandish claims unsupported by evidence during multiple television appearances, and those episodes were likely key to her new position.
