Michelle Obama Tells Oprah: I’m Never Running For Any Office (VIDEO)

First Lady Michelle Obama is one of the most popular figures, political or otherwise, in America and as a result she always ends up at the top of the list when people start talking about possible Senate or presidential candidates. The idea that she could run for president gained extra popularity after the disappointing 2016 presidential election.

But the First Lady is giving a solid “no” to that sentiment.

Speaking to Oprah in a post-election special, she said the following: “No. Look, that’s one thing I don’t do: I don’t make stuff up. I’m not coy… I’m pretty direct. If I were interested in it, I’d say it. I don’t believe in playing games.”

She went on to explain the toll running for office takes on a family – remember she’s the veteran of two national campaigns with President Obama, and was the hardest working campaigner for Hillary Clinton as well: “Let me just tell America: This is hard. It’s a hard job. I said on the campaign trail. It requires a lot of sacrifice. It is a weighty thing. And it’s not something that you even look to one family to take on at that level, for that long period of time.”
