Donald Trump appears to have had considerable difficulty in discussing women’s issues when a key leader brought the topic up with him.
After House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called Trump after his election victory, The New York Times reports that when Pelosi brought up women’s issues, “He handed the phone over to another person in the room — his 35-year-old daughter, Ivanka.”
Trump deciding to outsource an issue affecting a majority of American people is troubling, but it is continued evidence of his hostility towards women.
During the campaign Trump regularly trashed and belittled women’s issues. He said women should be “punished” for having an abortion, and was caught on video bragging about assaulting women he was sexually interested in.
The exchange also highlights the ongoing corruption issue with Trump. While his daughter Ivanka will have a role in her father’s administration and his ear as a trusted adviser and confidante, she will also – along with her brothers Eric and Donald Jr. – be running his businesses, some who stand to profit from his White House decisions.
