The Southern Poverty Law Center has documented how, while at Breitbart, Bannon used the site for “Embracing ideas on the extremist fringe of the conservative right. Racist ideas. Race-baiting ideas. Anti-Muslim and anti-Immigrant ideas.”

The site promoted the “popular racist conspiracy theory” that “African-Americans are committing crimes against whites at alarming rates.”

Trump also promoted this false theory during his campaign, promoting white supremacist Twitter accounts that called blacks criminals.

During the campaign faced allegations that Trump was secretly funneling payments to the site in exchange for extremely favorable coverage. Breitbart repeatedly promoted Trump while attacking his opponents in the Republican primary and in the general election.
