Dayonte Resiles, 21, escaped from a courtoom in Davie, florida on Friday July 15, 2016. He escaped from the fourth floor of courtroom of  Judge Raag Singhal. He took off his jail uniform and handcuffs in the process.

Attorney Jim Lewis said, “He pushed open the door very violently, apparently he had slipped both his cuffs and his ankle shackles. One of the deputies had him just barely by the clothing in the back, but he slipped away. One of prosecutors in the courtroom who is pregnant was hurt. The inmate pushed the door open so violently hard it pushed her back. He then went down to the end of the floor and we didn’t see him again.”

The courtroom was put on lockdown after the incident, and a manhunt search was launched soon after.

There were “three helicopters, K-9 officers and officers from Fort Lauderdale police and deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office” being used to search for Resiles in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Parts of the courthouse were also temporarily evacuated.
