Micah X. Johnson Identified As Dallas Shooter (PHOTOS)

Dallas police have identified Micah Xavier Johnson as the shooter who shot 12 people and killed 5 Dallas, Texas police officers at a Black Lives Matter protest. Johnson is 25 and reportedly had no ties to terrorists or other organized groups.

Reuters: “Suspected Dallas shooter Micah Xavier Johnson was a member of U.S. Amy Reserve – government source”

AP: “Army says Micah Xavier Johnson, named as #Dallas shooting suspect, had served as enlisted soldier; served tour in Afghanistan.”

LA Times: “Police used a “bomb robot” early Friday to kill a gunman after snipers opened fire in downtown Dallas, killing five officers and wounding seven, during a protest over recent police shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana, officials said.”

WKRG: “One of the officers who was killed has been identified: 43-year-old Brent Thompson, who just got married last week. Other officers injured have been identified as Omar Cannon, 44; Misty McBride, 32; Jesus Retana, 39. All 3 of them are expected to survive.”

WSJ: “Before he died, the suspect told the negotiator he was angry about Black Lives Matter, recent police shootings of black men, and white people, the police chief said at an early morning news conference.”

President Obama: “As I told Mayor Rawlings, I believe that I speak for every single American when I say that we are horrified over these events, and that we stand united with the people and the police department in Dallas. According to police, there are multiple suspects. We will learn more, undoubtedly, about their twisted motivations. But let’s be clear: There is no possible justification for these kinds of attacks or any violence against law enforcement. The FBI is already in touch with the Dallas police, and anyone involved in these senseless murders will be held fully accountable. Justice will be done.”
