Rekha Vaishnav is a 24-year-old Indian model accused of running a prostitution business in secret.
Rekha Vaishnav Arrest
Rekha Vaishnav was arrested by a special squad of police under the lead of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Zone IX) Satya Narayan Chowdhary. The police got a tip from a NGO, Indian Rescue Mission. According to police Vaishnav disguised her business as a production house named “VR Entertainment.”
Inside The Bust
The business located on Raj Yog building’s 14th floor at Versova was infiltrated after police posed as customers. They then raided the apartment and secured two models inside.
Police say the names of several high profile customers were found in documents removed from the VR Entertainment office.
Photo Shoots Used As Cover
Police say that photo shoots were used as a cover for the prostitution business. “The girls were brought from Gujarat and Delhi. Vaishnav prepared them for nude photo shoots, after which she sent the photos to customers via WhatsApp. When the customer chose the girl, Vaishnav decided the amount to be paid,” one officer told an Indian news site.
DS Patil, from the Versova police station told the news site, “The arrested model has acted in few low budget movies as well, and she lured struggling models to her office by offering them roles in low budget movies, and after taking them into confidence, she trapped them in the prostitution racket. We have recovered more than 100 photos of different models, and most of them are from outside Mumbai. The arrested model was earning good money from them. Most businessmen and known faces from Bollywood were in touch with her, it has been found in the investigation.”
Rekha Vaishnav was booked under India’s Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. The two models were produced before the court as her victims, while Vaishnav has also been charged with forcing the women into prostitution.
