Amber Marchese, one of the stars of the Real Housewives of New Jersey has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
Marchese, 38, is dealing with the diagnosis as she battles breast cancer, though she caught the symptoms of her ailment early.
Catching Lyme Disease
She told Entertainment Tonight that she felt flu-like symptoms. After posting about it on Facebook a friend with similar symptoms urged her to get tested for Lyme disease and the results came back positive.
Marchese told the celebrity news program: “About two weeks ago, I had flu-like symptoms which included a low grade fever, headache, aches, chills, join pain and awful neck pain.”
She was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in May of 2015. At her oncologist’s office while undergoing a round of chemotherapy, Manchese asked for a Lyme disease test.
In 2009, Manchese was first diagnosed with breast cancer in her right breast. Six years later it reoccured in the same breast. She discussed it with People: “I can’t even begin to describe the feeling you get when someone says you have cancer. Then to get it again after you thought you fought it and thought it was behind you… I was thinking, ‘This is definitely it. I’m going to die.’”
Manchese appeared in the sixth season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. She is married to James Marchese, owner of a mortgage firm in their hometown of Shrewsbury, New Jersey. The couple has two children, a son Corbin and daughter Isabella. She is also stepmother to her husband’s children, Michael and Sebastian.
The couple had some drama earlier in the year when James was arrested at LAX airport after it was alleged that he grabbed Amber by the throat. She later bailed him out of jail and issued a press release that denied the allegation.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘s Yolanda Foster also contracted Lyme disease.
