Amherst College Lawsuit
Dimaris Barrios-Beltran was a lecturer at Amherst College.
She has filed a lawsuit against the school claiming that she was coerced “to go out to parties or socials and sleep with students to encourage more people to take Spanish.”
Barrios-Beltran alleges that her superior, Victoria Maillo, told her “that is what I brought you here for” when she asked if her job as “to sleep with a different guy every night.”
In the complaint Barrios-Beltran also says that Maillo recruited teaching assistants based on those who had “pretty faces.”
When she went over her boss’ head to complain about her behavior, Maillo allegedly trashed Barrios-Beltran’s Puerto Rico-accented Spanish and called her “ghetto.”
An Amherst College spokesman said Barrios-Beltran only brought up her claims ““only after she was told that her short-term contract would not be renewed.”
