Lakeisha Holloway has been arrested for the hit and run on the Las Vegas strip on the night of December 20. Holloway is a 24-year-old woman from Oregon. She was traveling with her 3 year old daughter at the time of the incident according to reports.
Holloway has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Nevada. She had a December 2011 minor driving arrest according to reporting from The Oregonian.
In a December 21 press conference, the Clark County District Attorney said he plans to charge Holloway with murder with use of a deadly weapon, among many other charges. He also said they haven’t determined the motive for the attack.
Holloway reportedly told police she had been dissociated with the father of her child and had been in Las Vegas for a week, homeless and living in her car. She apparently parked her car in various parking structures.
Police found Holloway after a 9-1-1 call was made, and they found the woman standing and she was at Planet Hollywood without incident.
Police say she did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol, but a drug recognition expert determined that she was under the influence of “some sort of stimulant.”
The CCTV video of Holloway reportedly showed intent when she allegedly drove the car into the crowd.
The crash occurred outside the Paris Hotel and Casino at 6:30PM Las Vegas time.
Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Holloway appeared “stoic” and not concerned with what she had allegedly done.
35 people were hurt after a car drove up onto the sidewalk. Jessica Valenzuela of Buckeye, Arizona, was killed. She was 32.
19 student athlete wrestlers from Pacific University were in Las Vegas over the weekend and 4 of them were injured in the accident.
