Mike Huckabee & The Religious Right Are Pro-Sharia Law

The mainstream media is afraid to call conservatives, Republicans, and especially “religious” right conservatives on their nonsense.

Mike Huckabee and the “religious” right are pro-Sharia law. The rally they held today with Kim Davis in Kentucky was a pro-Sharia event. Huckabee, Davis, and their supporters assert that biblical beliefs trump United States federal law and the rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court. They believe that their religious beliefs trump American law.

This is the same concept that Islamic extremists believe in. The only difference is the name given to the supreme being, whether God or Allah.

It is no different. It believes that when religious belief comes into conflict with national laws, that religious beliefs are superior and more binding.

It is an anti-American way to see the world, and it is wrong.

It is wrong to declare that God’s law trumps man-made law, particularly if you are running for high office, especially the presidency.

Kim Davis broke the law. The United States Supreme Court legally found that prohibitions on same-sex marriage are against the law. What the court rules is the law, whether we like it or not. We don’t get to pick and choose which Supreme Court rulings are legally binding. I’d prefer the court have ruled in a different way in Bush v Gore or Citizens United, but I don’t get to pick and choose, any more than the right gets to pick and choose when it comes to Roe v Wade or any of the Obamacare findings.

That isn’t American. That isn’t how it works. We are a nation of largely Judeo-Christian believers who rightly believed that our laws are stronger than any one faith’s findings. Our system of government and laws is the supreme law of the land, while biblical rules and laws rule our hearts and the afterlife. While you’re on earth, we are subject to man’s laws, not the Bible.

To say otherwise is Sharia Law. It is wrong.
