AUDIO: Jeb Bush Used A Racist Term On Campaign Trail

Jeb Bush appears to be feeling pressure from Donald Trump’s continued domination of the Republican presidential campaign.

After watching Trump suffer no consequences from calling for the repeal of the 14th Amendment and mass deportation, Jeb Bush jumped into the gutter.

Speaking to right-wing radio host and former Reagan administration official Bill Bennett, Bush called for “greater enforcement” of immigration law against pregnant women who “so that you don’t have these, you know, ‘anchor babies’, as they’re described, coming into the country.”

AUDIO: Jeb Bush Uses Racist Term “Anchor Babies”

The term is racist, used by the nativist right to attack children who are born in the United States to immigrant parents. And like most terms on the right, the distinction between legal and undocumented has been blurred to the point of erasure. Even though “anchor baby” is derogatory in either context, it simply doesn’t matter anymore for the right.

Nearly half of the Republican field has called for the 14th Amendment to be legally void, without the legal/undocumented distinction made.

What was once a fringe, out of bounds series of terms and policies has become the lifeblood of the mainstream Republican Party, from upstarts like Donald Trump to people for whom the GOP is a family business, like Jeb Bush.

This is where the party is now. And it rests in filth.

UPDATE: Hillary Clinton pushed back, writing “they’re called babies.”
