Prepare the vomit bucket before you read this NY Times article lamenting the census data showing that New York City grew by only 2% over the last decade.
God, New York and New Yorkers are often so up their own butt you would think the streets there are actually lined with gold. The quotes in the story act as if everyone should want to live in an overpriced, congested megacity. Maybe people don’t want to spend thousands of dollars in rent for what is a walk-in closet in the rest of the country.
New York is obviously one of the world’s premiere cities (to quote a cliche: nice to visit, but I definitely wouldn’t live there), but contrary to the opinions of many who live there – and especially the media – it isn’t the be all and end all of civilization.
